There is an unnatural level of delicious loaded into this surprise on page 18. Do the Brussel (from Season 2, Episode 3: Synchronized Swimming) wasn’t the only Burger of the Day written on the board. There was also the Burger A La Mode that comes with ice cream (but not on top); the Use it or Blues it Burger; and The One Yam Band Burger. Now, if they only pick one recipe per episode, the Brussels Sprouts burger would not be my first choice. Ever. Because, hello, blue cheese and ice cream are also options. But had they chosen those, they wouldn’t have opened my eyes to this AMAZING BURGER. I mean, top notch, guys. This bad boy will go on future menus for dinner. It was phenomenal.
I don’t know who decided to saute Brussels sprouts and pistachios (of all things) in bacon grease, but there is a special place in my heart for them. To begin with, Brussels sprouts aren’t as gross as cartoons make them out to be, they’re pretty tasty, and the salty pistachio and that meaty bacon flavor elevated every bit of goodness from them. Then you add the sour cream and bacon to the burger and BAM, instant awesome. The Brussels sprout saute was so good, in fact, that I made it a second time with garlic and chopped bacon as a side to a later dish. And guess what? BOTH times my vegetable-averse roommate ate EVERY LAST BITE.
Oh, and if you’re curious, I made this with grilled corn rubbed with a jalapeno, bell pepper, and cilantro butter. They were delicious too, but I’m not sure if they’re worth all the extra work, honestly.
